Hazards
Teflon fumes are poisonous to birds. Beware of nonstick cookware. Teflon
and other nonstick coatings are found on many newer appliances, irons,
ironing board covers, electric rollers, hairdryers, etc. Avoid aerosol
sprays, air freshener products, or candles around your bird. Carpet dust
fresheners are poisonous to your bird's breathing. A parrot's airsac
system is 70 times more sensitive than a human.s. Please never smoke
around your bird. Keep him out of the kitchen while cooking. Your bird
should never be allowed to roam on the floor. Never take an uncaged bird
outside, even with clipped wings. A gust of wind can carry him away.
